Our passion and drive is trying to breed pigeons that not only excel on the race course but then intern reproduce winners in the breeding loft.
Our first love is the breeding loft. Trying to get better and trying to make the perfect couples so we can be successful generation after generation basically with the same family of birds is our goal.
Carey Tilson and I met through combine competition in North Carolina. We both brought a few things to the partnership plus some very good birds. Carey’s knowledge of medication and health and feeding was really important. I was able to bring years of knowledge and observation to the table. I’ve been around pigeons everyday of my life as my dad, uncle, aunt and grandfather all had pigeons. My grandfather was in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and had pigeons before and after the war.
I am currently married and my wife and I have three children. Naturally, they take up a lot of our time and one of the things that makes me the most proud is that unlike a lot of the top One Loft Flyers in the country, I put in 12 to 15 hour days just about 6 to 7 days a week with my job. So the birds only get me about 30 to 45 minutes most days.
So the birds have adapted to me and my schedule and very little attention from me. I would love to see what they can do if I truly could give them my undivided attention.
The next thing that’s very important to me is the fact that we test all of our birds. Very few birds are sold as youngsters unless somebody pushes us for them. All birds are sent out and tested so when they come back, we provide our friends and clients with birds that already know how to come home (built in homing ability). This is something that can be lost with those that breed for stock year after year. Our birds don’t have famous names but have been tested and the awesome performance can be seen in our pedigrees—not a few famous named birds untested for multi-generations.
The birds in our pedigrees are performance pigeons that excel in One Loft Races. We still fly some futurity races and bond races as we do like to keep a few combined related birds in the background of our One Loft Family. Yet, most are out of our One Loft Breeders. We do not keep any pairs for the purpose of selling birds. All pairs are tested in the races and every pair has children tested in One Loft races each year.
We have seen ourselves, firsthand, how club and combine birds for the most part are not successful in the One Loft game. Yet we’ve had great success with our One Loft birds for ourselves and others in club and combine situations. We feel like we can offer birds that are multi-talented—birds that can break from the flock and birds that have the desire to finish 300 and 350 mile races.
Several keys to being successful in One Loft Races:
#1 Health
#2 Quality birds
#3 Management of the breeders 365 days a year and the most important the 30-45 days with the new babies prior to shipping out to the races
Results that count:
I’m no longer interested in just trying to hit in the final. I’m looking to create birds that excel from start to finish. We have raised multiple One Loft Race Champion Birds and others have raised multiple One Loft Champion Birds from our family of birds.
The Vegas Hen is by far the foundation bird of the entire loft. I’m proud to say that some of the 2019 winners were already the 9th generation from the Vegas Hen.
This makes me super proud to be able to say 16 years after the Vegas Hen was born and 9 generations later, we are still at the top of our game and possibly getting better. Her sons 348, 287, 1024, 6001 and grandson 1312, great grandson’s 1148 and 1303 plus 4135 is the 6th generation from the Vegas Hen are still the backbone of our loft today!
Thanks for visiting our site and we be honored to help you with a special bird from our family or just discuss or beloved sport! Great racing to everyone!
Thanks
